Cha Eun Woo Makes Shocking Confession About Acting Roles: ‘I don’t want to play it anymore’

Cha Eun Woo bared his heart out and reflected on his acting career over the years in an exclusive interview with Star News Korea.

The idol-actor who rose to fame for his handsome looks and iconic K-dramas revealed his honest thoughts on his filmography and choice of acting roles.

Cha Eun Woo Dishes On 'True Beauty' Stardom

Besides dominating the idol stage, Cha Eun Woo also stole the K-drama fans' hearts as the male lead in the webtoon-based romance drama "True Beauty" in 2021.

The series gained huge traction not only in Asia but also in Europe. Cha Eun Woo surpassed more than 13 million followers after he appeared in the drama, proving its popularity.

Thankfully, Cha Eun Woo didn't turn down the offer to appear in "True Beauty" as it posed a lot of great acting opportunities for him in widening his acting career.

Cha Eun Woo confessed that he hesitated to appear in the show after reading the script. He said, "My fans and fellow ASTRO members told me that I resemble the character Su Ho."

According to him, it was the reason why he accepted the casting offer. He added, "He is a cool person. It was a great time for me to show other sides of myself apart from being an idol."

Moreover, "True Beauty" also opened doors for him to bag major acting projects such as "Gangnam Beauty," "Island" and "A Good Day to Be a Dog," to name a few.

Cha Eun Woo Shares Plans For Acting

In the interview, Cha Eun Woo revealed that transforming into Su Ho was a huge challenge for him.

"Playing a cold person when I love pranks in real life was quite burdensome," the idol-actor confessed. "It's really a big challenge to perfect a role that has an original version."

To recall, "True Beauty" was a serialized webtoon on Naver with a whopping million views and rating. However, Cha Eun Woo admitted that he doesn't want to play the same character anymore.

He said that he wants to make a wise choice in every work, and refrain from playing a character that is highly similar to the one in his previous work.

"I think viewers will appreciate it more if I act how I imagine my character would do, and blend myself into my role seamlessly," Cha Eun Woo reasoned.

At the moment, Cha Eun Woo transforms into a man born with a golden spoon but lives a rough life due to unexpected incidents in the revenge drama "Wonderful World" with Kim Nam Joo.

He's set to boast his improved acting skills so make sure to check it out. The thriller mystery series airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC TV and Disney+.
