Song Joong Ki's 'My Name Is Loh Kiwan' Debuts Successfully

Song Joong Ki's high scale drama film "My Name Is Loh Kiwan" finally hit the screens after a long wait.

The film, which was filmed for a long time in Hungary, has graced the viewers with profound narrative and amazing performance from its cast.

"My Name Is Loh Kiwan" depicts the struggles of a North Korean defector who finds refuge in Belgium and falls in love with a Belgian-Korean woman who has given up in life.

The film marks Song Joong Ki's long anticipated return to the limelight after he tied the knot and built a beautiful small family with Katy Louise Saunders in 2023.

According to Netflix, "My Name Is Loh Kiwan" successfully took the No. 3 spot in Netflix's Top 10 Non-English films in just five days since its premiere.

It even became one of the most streamed films in more than 15 countries including South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Morocco, Qatar and the Philippines.

The production received great reception from the public, thanks to its colorful and top-notch cinematography which gave justice to the beauty of Hungary.

Moreover, Song Joong Ki's performance and synergy with leading lady Choi Sung Eun is also vivid, which pictured the narrative's unique and sad yet dark sensibility.

Song Joong Ki Dishes On Chemistry With Choi Sung Eun

Besides Song Joong Ki's transformation into a North Korean defector, fans also looked forward to seeing his amazing chemistry with Choi Sung Eun in "My Name Is Loh Kiwan."

In the film, the two meet in Belgium at their lowest points in life. Many were in awe of the two actors' high caliber acting despite working together for the very first time.

"We met for the first time for the film," Song Joong Ki shared. "There were no awkward moments nor pressure. Choi Sung Eun and I got along very well."

Among the two-shots that they filmed, the intense love scene gained a huge traction as it came as a huge surprise to the viewers. Regarding this, Song Joong Ki said, "It was an essential scene."

"There was a reason why the production team went with that direction," the actor added. "I have no authority in that aspect."

The actor agreed that it was a huge decision to include but he trusted the production film. In addition, he also felt their support as a lead actor.
