Choi Sung Eun Dishes On 'My Name Is Loh Kiwan' Audition
Since her debut in 2018, Choi Sung Eun has starred in various K-dramas and films that left a mark on the viewers.
This 2024, she returned with the drama film "My Name Is Loh Kiwan" with Song Joong Ki, and transformed into a Belgian-Korean woman who has given up in life.
According to the actress, she almost didn't do it due to her intense pessimistic mindset. She reasoned, "Whenever I audition, I always think it won't work out for me. It's because I don't want to set my hopes high."
Thankfully, she was able to charm the showrunners and landed the role. In the interview, she shared her experiences, saying that she found her role, Marie, very attractive.
"I didn't receive a full script. I only had the description of the work and my character," Choi Sung Eun revealed. "I gave my best in portraying the role, and even dressed the part."
Regarding being nicknamed as a "Monster Rookie" actress, Choi Sung Eun confessed that although she's very grateful, it's still a huge burden to her.
She added, "I wonder whether I really deserve it but I promise to continue showcasing my talents in my future works."
Choi Sung Eun On Chemistry With Song Joong Ki
"My Name Is Loh Kiwan" marked the actress' first-ever work with the Hallyu superstar. Choi Sung Eun felt honored and excited after receiving the news.
According to her, Song Joong Ki was a solid gem. The actor didn't make her feel uncomfortable while working abroad but instead helped her in internalizing her respective role.
"He's a persistent person. He really values his work and the people around him," the actress said, sharing her admiration. "Even during breaks, he continues to review our work. It's a thing I learned from him."
It was also revealed that Song Joong Ki asked Choi Sung Eun not to call her "senior" anymore. However, the actress continues to address him as a "passionate senior" due to his work ethics.
"He's a warm person I can approach with ease, and a senior who guides rookies like me with no prejudice," Choi Sung Eun added.
