Kim Soo Hyun Talks About Jun Ji Hyun's Character in 'My Love From the Star'
In a report, the show hosts, Yoo Jae Seok and Jo Sae Ho, recalled Kim Soo Hyun's humble beginnings, which include his first hit K-drama, "My Love from the Star."
Released in 2013, both Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun took home recognition at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards.
While the South Korean heartthrob bagged the Most Popular Actor in the TV Category, the Hallyu queen won Daesang, or Grand Prize, for the same category.
Yoo Jae Hyuk recalled how the actress gave Kim Soo Hyun a shoutout during her acceptance speech.
As for the actor, he revealed how Jun Ji Hyun's character in "My Love from the Star" reminded him of his role in "Queen of Tears."
"My character is somewhat similar to Jun Ji Hyun's character Cheon Song Yi from 'My Love from the Star.' There were many times when I had to act the way Jun Ji Hyun did."
Revealing the similarities between both characters, he mentioned how professional and "amazing" the Hallyu star was.
"While I acted my character in 'Queen of Tears,' I couldn't stop thinking about Jun Ji Hyun. I came to realize how amazing of an actress she was. I mean, of course, I knew that. But I meant that it really reminded me of that. She is a true professional."
Written by Park Ji Eun of "Crash Landing on You," "The Producers," and "My Love From the Star," Kim Soo Hyun's new drama, "Queen of Tears," depicts the story of a chaotic couple who remained strong despite facing odds in life.
Delivering thrilling and entertaining scenes, Kim Soo Hyun takes on the character of Baek Hyun Woo, who works as the legal director of the top-notch conglomerate, Queens Group.
On the other hand, Kim Ji Won plays the third-generation chaebol Hong Hae In and Baek Hyun Woo's wife.
'Queen of Tears' Enters Netflix's Global Top 10
tvN's "Queen of Tears" premiered on March 9, and delivers romance and comedy. Airing every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m. KST, viewers watch the latest episode via tvN and Netflix.
Interestingly, Kim Soo Hyun's new drama instantly garnered attention from K-drama viewers as "Queen of Tears'' kicked off with impressive ratings. In a report by Nielsen Korea, the series recorded an average nationwide rating of 5.9 percent for its pilot episode.
Meanwhile, "Queen of Tears" is currently at the 8th spot in the Netflix TV rankings as of March 13, as cited by Flix Patrol.
