According to a report, "The Axe" is scheduled to begin production in August. Apart from this, officials are also working on the auditions to complete the cast lineup.
To recall, Korean media outlets mentioned on April 2 that Son Ye Jin is set to return to acting through the upcoming movie "The Axe."
Joining her as a fellow lead star is award-winning actor Lee Byung Hun.
At the time, the respective agencies of the duo confirmed that they had received offers to star in "The Axe" and were positively reviewing the offers.

If the two stars agree to headline the upcoming film, this will be their first project together.
As for working with director Park Chan Wook, Lee Byung Hun
At the same time, it will mark Son Ye Jin's first time working with the director after 20 years since they filmed "Joint Security Area" in 2000 and "Three Extremes" in 2004.
Meanwhile, "The Axe" will be Son Ye Jin's first project since the JTBC drama "Thirty-Nine" in March 2022.
The actress has been on hiatus after the K-drama in preparation for her personal milestone.

Park Chan Wook sees "The Axe" as his "lifelong project" and would like to make it one of his iconic works.
"I want to make it one day and make it one of my signature works."
"The Axe" is based on the French-Spanish-Belgian movie of the same name, which was released in 2005.
However, the original was a novel written by Donald E. Westlake.
The thriller-comedy movie depicts the story of an employee who was laid off from work.
To survive in life, he wants to start anew; however, it seems like fate is not on his side.
He becomes desperate because he is eager to murder his fellow applicants to get the job.
