Park Bo Gum revealed the true reason behind his decision not to accept TV show appearances after his military discharge.

Joining fellow stars who enlisted in 2020, the "Repky 1988" star became part of the navy military band as their cultural promotion soldier.

Per reports, Park Bo Gum was promoted to a sergeant role in November 2021, where he served at Gyeryongdae in South Chungcheong Province.

Adding to the list of Bogummy's achievements, he also passed the barber license exam.

Meanwhile, after 2 years of being in the military, he was officially discharged from military service on April 30, 2022.

While fans patiently waited for his return, Park Bo Gum continued his brief hiatus for one single reason.

In an interview with a local media outlet, Park Bo Gum talks about his return to acting.

With the upcoming movie "Wonderland," the South Korean hearthrob expressed his excitement that fans would get to see the romance sci-fi film directed by the award-winning Kim Tae Yong.

According to the actor, he is "grateful that the movie was released at a good time."

To recall, "Wonderland" began its production in July 2020 in a studio in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, and Jeonju.

The team completed the filming in September 2020 but experienced various setbacks due to the pandemic.

At the time, Tang Wei's scenes were rescheduled and filmed in January 2021.

As for Park Bo Gum, he mentioned that some of his seniors asked when "Wonderland" would hit theaters and would often answer them, "It will come out soon," but it was only officially confirmed that it would debut in 2024.

When asked about not being active on a small screen after his military discharge, the actor revealed that he was busy with his graduate school.

According to Bogummy, he was writing a thesis ahead of his graduation from graduate school.

"I've been very busy, but people around me asked me why I wasn't on TV. Oh, I lived a busy life, but I did," he joked.

In 2012, Park Bo Gum graduated from Shinmok High School and was an undergrad at the Musical Theater department at Myongji University.

In 2023, he was spotted attending a master's thesis workshop at Sang Myung University.

Showcasing a star-studded cast, "Wonderland" depicts the story of people who use the app called "Wonderland" to connect with their dead loved ones.

Jeong In and Tae Ju, played by Park Bo Gum and Suzy, are a young couple who faced a crisis in their relationship after Tae Ju fell into a coma.

Desperate to see him again, she uses the Wonderland app to communicate with Tae Ju.

In the same interview, Park Bo Gum describes the movie as a "thought-provoking film."

"Because it comes out at a time when AI services are being developed and people are interested in them."

Other than the duo, the "Wonderland" cast includes Choi Woo Shik, Jung Yu Mi and Tang Wei and will be released on June 5.
