"Since 'Squid Game,' you've been recognized a lot more outside Korea, right?"

Lee Jung Jae answered:

I assumed that in the past, you could rest comfortably when you went abroad. There are pros and cons to that, It's not easy to walk around freely anymore.

But one of the perks of being a celebrity is the great benefits at restaurants. You often get free desserts or appetizers.

When that started happening overseas, I thought, 'Am I getting famous here too?'"

Amid laughter, he shared his amusement at the different flavor of international recognition.

"The freebies you get overseas feel different.

I kind of want to take advantage of that and enjoy it to the fullest."

"Squid Game," which revolves around a group of financially struggling individuals competing in deadly children's games for a massive cash prize, resonated deeply with global audiences for its gripping storyline and social commentary.
