Hyeri Made THIS ‘Reply 1988’ Co-Star Change Perspective Towards Her After Revealing Surprising Secret

Hyeri received an unexpected response from Sung Dong Il after she invited him on her YouTube channel.

For the 19th episode of Hyell's Club, the Girl's Day member and the award-winning actor recalled their experience filming the hit K-drama "Reply 1988," and playing as father and daughter.

In the coming-of-age drama, Sung Dong Il plays as the patriarch and the breadwinner of the Sung family. Behind his grumpy exterior is an affectionate and doting father.

Among his three children is Sung Deok Sun, played by Lee Hyeri. She is the middle child of three, who is clumsy and naive yet generous, and she has a quick-witted personality.

During their reunion on Hyeri's YouTube channel, viewers witnessed heartfelt moments between the two stars.

Hyeri was curious about Sung Dong Il's perspective towards her before filming "Reply 1988."

The veteran responded, saying that he "wondered if she could act" and joked, "But of course I can't either."

Sung Dong Il then added that Hyeri was "just normal," but he liked her as an actress, especially when they finished filming the series.

Interestingly, the award-winning actor melted Hyeri's heart when he recalled an inspiring story that Hyeri had told him before.

At the time, the actress revealed to Sung Dong Il that she had bought a house for her parents. She told him:

"It's so good. I really wanted to tell you, dad."

Little did she know that the story had a huge impact on her "Reply 1988" co-star.

"I started to see you differently then. Honestly, that was really nice of you. That's why I told you that back then. I hope my children grow up like you, with a good personality and everything."

Sung Dong Il Responds to Possibility of 'Reply 1988' Season 2

"Reply 1988" really holds a special place in Hyeri's heart.

Other than her closeness to veteran actor Sung Dong Il, she also met her then longtime boyfriend Ryu Jun Yeol on the show (they called it quits after 8 years).

Further, she is currently still friends with her co-stars Go Kyung Pyo, Park Bo Gum, Lee Dong Hwi, and more.

On the other hand, viewers are also looking forward to seeing the cast together in a sequel.

As for this, Hyeri personally asked Sung Dong Il about his thoughts about "Reply 1988" Season 2.

According to the award-winning actor, he and "Reply 1988" director Shin Won Ho had a discussion about this.

"I will tell you when the cameras go off," he joked, then recalled his conversation with the director, saying, "We should film another one someday," not confirming whether there would be "Reply 1988" Season 2.
