Sung Dong-il Praises Hyeri for Her Influence in His Parenting Ideals: ‘I Wish My Kids Will Be Like You'

In a heartwarming reunion, veteran actor Sung Dong-il showered praise on his former on-screen daughter, Hyeri of Girl's Day, during a recent episode of her YouTube show "Hyell's Club".

The pair, known for their roles in the beloved K-drama "Reply 1988", shared nostalgic anecdotes and deep reflections on their time together.

Sung Dong-il, who portrayed Hyeri's father in the series, kicked off the episode with a playful tease about her transformation since their "Reply 1988" days.

"You've changed so much. You've really lost that baby fat now. Back then, your face was so chubby with baby fat. Or maybe you just lost a lot of weight since then? I remember teasing you a lot with producer Shin Won-ho. We used to joke about your baby fat, like saying, 'You're 21 and still have baby fat? You know you're not a baby anymore, right?'"

However, amidst the banter, Sung Dong-il also revealed a touching moment that underscored his admiration for Hyeri.

"Towards the end of our project, you shared with me something that deeply touched my heart,You told me, 'Dad, I bought my parents a house. I'm so happy. I really wanted to tell you, Dad.'"

The actor's eyes softened with pride as he continued, "That's when I realized how amazing you are. Honestly, I thought you had a good heart. I even wished our kids could grow up to be like you."

Hyeri, visibly moved by Sung Dong-il's heartfelt words, couldn't hide her emotions. "What was your first impression of me?" she asked tentatively.

Sung Dong-il, ever the candid storyteller, recalled with a grin.

"Your eyes were round, and overall, you seemed quite ordinary. But I really like you a lot."
