KoKi In Talks to Play the Main Character in ‘True Beauty’ Remake

Koki is set to headline the upcoming movie based on the Korean webtoon "True Beauty."

The 21-year-old singer-actress, whose real name is Mitsuki Kimura, will be returning to the big screen after 2 years since the mystery horror film "Ox-Head Village."

According to reports, she is currently filming a remake of the rom-com K-drama "True Beauty," in which KoKi plays one of the main leads.

In the upcoming film, she takes on the character of a high school girl who has a complex personality, especially about her appearance.

Viewers will get to see KoKi land a very challenging role as her character delves into ways to avoid being bullied by her peers.

She masters the art of make-up and makes herself beautiful, to the point where she transforms into a goddess through a makeover. In addition to this, the team behind the upcoming film teased fans about what to expect in the "True Beauty" remake. KoKi will showcase a different transformation as she turns into a completely different person. Despite being unfamiliar with school life in Japan, the production team assured fans that KoKi is enjoying playing the character of a high school student. Meanwhile, the original version of "True Beauty" is headlined by Moon Ga Young as high school student Lim Joo Kyung.

Adding to the list of lead stars is Hwang In Youp as Han Seo Joon; he is a former idol trainee and a model.

Who is KoKi?

Born to famous parents, actor Takuya Kimura and singer Shizuka Kudo, she made her big screen debut in the horror film "Ushikubi Mura," which means Cow's Neck Village.

At the time, the rookie actress was grateful for being given the honor of starting her acting career through the movie.

"I'm really grateful for this wonderful opportunity. I will do my best to portray the role and follow the directions from director Shimizu," she said, as mentioned by an outlet.

Helmed by "The Shock Labyrinth" director Takashi Shimizu, this is the third installment from the "horror village" series, next to "Suicide Forest Village in 2021 and Howling Village in 2019.

Then 18-year-old KoKi was also an active model, appearing in various fashion magazines as well as for top-tier brands like Valentino, Bulgari, Valentino and Chanel.

Meanwhile, she is also active on SNS, with over 3.5 million followers on Instagram.
