Suzy and Park Bo Gum's movie "Wonderland" will officially air on Netflix.
After making a round of noise due to its intriguing plot and star-studded cast lineup, the romance sci-fi movie will be available on the streaming platform.
Directed and written by Kim Tae Yong, who is the genius behind the hit film "Memento Mori," the film officially premiered in South Korea on June 5, 2024, which garnered much praise from viewers.
Per report, the film took the top spot in the local box office during its first week of release.
Not only that, "Wonderland" has amassed $3.21 million, just five days after its theatrical release, as mentioned by the Korean Film Council (KOFIC).
Netflix to Release 'Wonderland' This July
Interestingly, Netflix has announced that the romance sci-fi movie will be available exclusively on the platform in July 2024.
Netflix subscribers will get a chance to watch the star-studded movie that depicts human's relationships and artificial intelligence.
As for the release date, the streaming giant has yet to announce the exact date of availability of "Wonderland" on the platform.
Is 'Wonderland' Worth Watching?
The movie centers around the ability of people to reconnect with their dead loved ones through a service app called Wonderland. With the help of artificial intelligence, subscribers can communicate through a video call as if they were speaking to a real person.
The "Wonderland" cast includes award-winning actresses Tang Wei, Jung Yu Mi, Choi Woo Shik, Suzy, and Park Bo Gum.
Suzy and Park Bo Gum portrayed the young couple who got separated because of a tragic incident.
Portraying the role of Jung In, she uses Wonderland to communicate with her boyfriend Tae Joo (Park Bo Gum), who is in a coma.
Meanwhile, Tang Wei plays Bai Li, the archaeologist of the Wonderland service. Behind this, Bai Li struggles to move on from the death of her young daughter.
As for Jung Yu Mi, she portrayed the character of Seo Hye Ri, the chief planner who designed the Wonderland service, while Choi Woo Shik plays rookie planner Hyun Soo, who works alongside Hye Ri.
Adding to the list of cast members, Gong Yoo also joined for a cameo role. He portrayed Bai Li's deceased husband, Seong Jun.
Interestingly, in an interview, Tang Wei mentioned her working relationship with Gong Yoo and praised him for his excellent communication skills.
"I didn't feel a language barrier thanks to Gong Yoo's English skills. I had such an enjoyable time while filming, and I felt a sense of brotherhood."
As for Bae Suzy and Park Bo Gum's connection in "Wonderland," the actress shared in an interview how she became comfortable on the set because of the "Reply 1988" star.
"He has a face that can convey various emotions, not just a handsome face. While working on the movie, we became closer, and that showed well in the film."
Prior to this, the two also worked as hosts alongside Shin Dong Yup for the Baeksang Arts Awards.
