The clip was published on her YouTube channel on September 11 and went viral immediately. It sparked significant outrage because of the disturbing nature of the video.

In the video, SunHwa pings the politician informally and flirtily calls him “Oppa,” a term of endearment used by women with older men.

A few minutes in, she expressed, "My heart felt so touched when Oppa pinged me back." The remarks made Korean viewers even more uneasy.

Lee Jun Seuk, the former leader of Korea's ruling conservative party, has a controversial past: he was removed following accusations of soliciting sexual services at a brothel.

The video was even more provocative as Lee asked Sun Hwa, “Go bring some alcohol.” This phrase is deeply loaded in Korean culture.

This phrase has its roots in the past, when it was customary for Korean men to have alcohol poured for them by women at room salons and courtesans, known as gisaeng.

The audience on social media condemned it as an attempt to commoditize women. People did not keep their thoughts to themselves; there was a wave of outrage against both Sun Hwa and Lee.

Judging by social media, viewers’ reactions ranged from dissatisfaction with Sun Hwa to absolute disgust with the video.

The video has now been taken down from the channel, and neither party has released a comment on the matter.
