On the latest episode of SBS's "Dongsang Imong Season 2—You Are My Destiny," actor Baek Sung Hyun revealed that he underwent emergency surgery for a tumor last year.
In the episode that aired on October 14, Baek Sung Hyun recounted how he became husband and father shortly after his marriage, preventing him from being alone.
"As soon as I got married, I had a first child... I worked around construction sites," he said, describing the financial difficulties he encountered.
Baek Sung Hyun has been an active master of ceremonies for various events after undergoing surgery but expressed concern about lack of work after the end of a drama project. "I'm ready to make you shine wherever you go," he said, adding that he also made a fine PR.
In a touching scene, Baek Sung-hyun's wife talked about her relationship, saying she was very close to her mother-in-law. "I rolled around with my mother-in-law so much when I had no place to roll. I think I filled my seat while my husband was gone," she said, expressing her support for Baek.
Baek explained how he had severe hip pain following a heel exposure in the early hours of the morning.
Baek first visited the hospital where he was diagnosed with hip inflammation and visited several other hospitals in the region without any improvement. At a later MRI, he was diagnosed with a hip joint tumor as an osteochondroma.
"I wasted a long time going to various hospitals," Baek confessed. After the operation, Baek went through a long rehabilitation process, where he experienced a difference in leg length. "Statistical difference between two legs is 9 cm in length," Baek said.
Baek Sung Hyun is grateful for his health and family recovery. Sometimes his condition took a big emotional toll, especially on his wife, who seemed to get emotional when she talked about it.
The actor, who is married to a flight attendant three years younger than him in 2020, has a son and two daughters.
