His body was discovered by a friend who had an appointment to see him and alerted the police. Officials said foul play isn't suspected.

Meanwhile, Song's death has sparked renewed debate over the harassment of so-called "sasaeng fans" after a Japanese fan claimed to have bullied him.

According to some reports, this person allegedly violated Song's privacy by taking illegal footage of his past events and posting raw photos of his family and friends on social media.

Among them, the fans made insulting remarks about Song and his work.
Over the days following the announcement of Song's death, public fury increased against the malicious fan, leading to the deletion of their social media account.

Although it is not confirmed that this harassment led to Song taking her life, many fans took to social media to voice their rage and upset.

Song made his feature film debut in 2009's Actresses and rose to stardom through popular television dramas, such as The Moon Embracing the Sun, Goodbye Mr. Black and, most recently, the TVING drama Queen Woo. A month earlier, he also starred in the musical "The Rose of Versailles.

A private funeral for Song will be held on Nov 14 at Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital, with burial taking place at the Seoul Metropolitan Crematorium.

As the mental health crisis deepens and the bullying continues on social media and other public forums, many have been advocating for more awareness, to be more inclusive of folks, and to shed more light on this kind of situation where other people pass along untold trauma. People who fall victim take their lives instead of standing up to it.

If you or anyone you know are having mental health issues, please get help from someone you trust or reach out to a local mental health service.
