Korean streamer and freelance announcer Kim Na Jung, who has been embroiled in a drug-related scandal after being caught with drugs, recently admitted that she had used drugs while in the Philippines.
According to SBS report, the 29-year-old media figure returned to South Korea on November 12 and tested positive for methamphetamine afterward.
The authorities at Incheon International Airport initially found the banned substance in her blood.
The Incheon Airport Police is investigating and have asked the National Forensic Services to confirm the results.
Before traveling to Korea, Kim had been in Manila and was subjected to two hours of interrogation when she arrived in Korea.
The probe stemmed from a since-deleted social media post in which Kim confessed to using drugs, saying:
"I admitted that I used drugs in the Philippines, which is why I am struggling with delusions. I sense I am going to die one way or the other, so I cannot take a plane."
Fans and other people saw the post and reported it to authorities, sparking concern for her well-being.
Police responded as soon as she made contact after she called them requesting help, fearing for her safety.
An Incheon Airport police representative said that they would hand over the details of Kim's investigation to the police department handling his case.
Kim, who has carved out a career as a weathercaster and has been a staple of several entertainment programs, now faces significant legal fallout.
The ongoing concerns about drug abuse among celebrities in South Korea hit closer to home, and the mental health of idols question was raised.
Authorities are looking into more shocking revelations after Kim Na Jung confessed to drug use.
