Earlier this week, it was revealed that actors Lee Dong Hwi and Jung Ho Yeon ended their nine-year relationship, and YouTube channel Lee Jin Ho has opened up about the reasoning behind their breakup.
He was talking about it during a segment on his YouTube channel "Entertainment President Lee Jin Ho."
As quoted by TV Report, Lee Jin Ho explained, "There is no concrete reason as to why their relationship did end."
As he put it, the partners had "many highs and lows over the course of their lengthy relationship. "It's hard to pinpoint just one reason for the breakup. People we know say there were a number of complex problems in their relationship."
Lee Jin Ho also ruled out speculation that Jung Ho Yeon's rise to stardom following her appearance in Netflix's "Squid Game" was a factor in their breakup.
There were also others that commented that Jung Ho Yeon became too popular all of a sudden because of 'Squid Game'. "This part was not true," he explained.
Instead, he attributed the breakup primarily to personality differences. "Jung Ho Yeon may look urbane and cold, but she actually has a very good personality. She is friendly, easy going, and even goofy," he said.
Lee Jin Ho said even after the success and international popularity, Jung Ho Yeon maintained an active interest in her relationship with Lee Dong Hwi.
Fellow friends of the two actors similarly gave Jung Ho Yeon high remarks, describing her as "an angel," while those who were close to Lee Dong Hwi also agreed on the same matter.
But, seeing how passionate Lee Dong Hwi was on set, and getting anxious at work, he said that it was somewhat more disconcerting.
"Because of his distress over his work, people even said he was 'sensitive'," Lee Jin Ho mentioned, recalling an incident where Lee Dong Hwi requested his agency's employees not to come to a movie interview due to unexpected questions about his personal life.
Lee Dong Hwi and Jung Ho Yeon were thought to be one of the longest-lasting couples in the entertainment scene.
Fans are devastated over the news that their breakup will come as they embodied a poster long-term couple.
The original model debuted in 2010 & shot up to fame following Squid Game in 2021.
