A top-tier drama, "Slowly, Intensely," with actors Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo, has an astronomical production fee of $546 million.
Per Star News, as reported by AllKpop, the show was written by acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee-Kyung, and filming began on January 12.
"Slowly, Intensely" is set in the broadcast industry, creating a universe around the stars that are broadcast and the people who made them during the 1960s and 1970s.
It will be Song Hye Kyo's third collaboration with Noh Hee-kyung, who penned 2008's KBS 2TV drama "Worlds Within" and 2013's SBS drama "That Winter, the Wind Blows."
In preparation for her role, Song Hye Kyo underwent a notable transformation by adopting a "shortcut" hairstyle.
"I cut it for my next project. It's a work by Noh Hee-kyung. It's a period drama set in the 60s and 70s," she said during a recent appearance on the YouTube channel "Yeojeongjaehyung."
On another talk show, on the tvN range "You Quiz on the Block," Song Hye Kyo likewise discussed the deep-rooted association she has with Noh Hee-kyung.
Looking back on the influence of her mentor, she confessed to writing gratitude journals every day for five years.
"You need to love yourself first in order to give love to others, and only then can you see a better world," she said.
Opposite Song Hye Kyo is Gong Yoo, reuniting with "Coffee Prince" director Lee Yoon-jung for the first time since the 2007 MBC drama.
The series, which runs for 22 episodes, will finish shooting in the first half of the year.
