In a surprising turn of events, Kim Sae Ron agency, Gold Medalist, appears to have adjusted its strategy after the late actress shared an image of herself with actor Kim Soo Hyun on social media.
The incident has sparked outrage among netizens who are expressing their disapproval of the agency's tactics.
As per Koreaboo, the Gold Medalist reportedly sent a certified letter to Kim Sae Ron on March 15, 2024, demanding she repay her loan of KRW 686 million (about USD 475,000) that she had taken out on November 22, 2022.
The letter also demanded that the repayment be made by December 31, 2023, and warned that non-repayment could be subject to civil and criminal action.
"Our law firm, on behalf of our client, urges you to repay the above loan debt, so please deposit the entire amount as soon as possible. If you do not deposit the loan, we will take civil and criminal action against you," the letter read.
After receiving no response from Kim Soo Hyun or his agency when she sought an extension for the repayment, Kim Sae Ron took to social media. On March 24, 2024, she posted a photo of herself with the actor in hopes of catching the agency's attention.
Following the photo release, Gold Medalist sent a second certified letter on March 25, stating a change in their stance regarding her repayment. The letter highlighted the legal implications for the agency if they did not pursue the debt.
"We are urging you to pay your debt because if the client company doesn't request that you repay your loan when it's due, the client company's executives could be charged with breach of trust," the letter noted. It also expressed a willingness to discuss repayment options.
"Regarding the difficulty in repaying the debt, we are willing to discuss a method and timing of debt repayment with you. We hope you will present a possible debt repayment schedule to the law firm."
Netizens have reacted with disgust to the agency's behavior.
Comments like "Piece of trash" and "Psychopath" have been thrown around on social media lately, showing the increasing public discomfort with the situation.
This controversy comes amid ongoing discussions about Kim Soo Hyun's involvement in the upcoming drama Queen of Tears.
Gold Medalist previously warned Kim Sae Ron, who has been facing financial difficulties, that " if there is any damage related to the drama, we will take action and demand compensation."
