Music and tech go well together and that's why they are a hot trend going into the new year.
You have to admit that YouTube is covering some new territory. It is not just a video site, but it also a rich social networking site as well. Sharing music and video through YouTube is something Americans and people around the world are obsessed with. You can bet YouTube will be around for a long time and thank God it's free.

Of course, 'piracy' is a given on YouTube, but getting a record number of views can change directions for any artist. One easy example is South Korean star Psy and his unforgettable hit, 'The Gangman style.' It is so addictive that you'll end up doing the funky dance even if it's not your cup of tea. Everybody's doing it!

The Harlem Shuffle is another hip dance that sweeps you off your feet. There have also been some touching moments in reality show competitions like 'Britain's Got Talent,' 'The X-Factor,' and a slew of others. Watching older artists, sometimes obese artists, and sometimes handicapped artists do their song and dance is absolutely stunning to watch. It also inspires others to chase their dreams. Susan Boyle is a great example and she still gets lots of views.

Another theme that is keeping YouTube afloat is the increase in web audiences across the world and the use of several Social Media Networks to distribute music content.

The advent of the mobile device is another aid in helping spread the videos on YouTube. It allows for easy sharing of content and you don't have to sit in front of the PC all the time.
Sexual content by artists like Miley Cyrus and her 'Wrecking Ball' video have kept gender equality an undisputed theme to deal with on YouTube and in the industry.

Music messaging via apps like Line, WhatsApp, Tango and Kakao have also helped distribute the word on what's trending on YouTube.
