WWE Network Announcement: Streaming Service Starts In February; Wrestling Fans Are Pumped

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon has announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that the WWE Network will start in February. The network will be an Internet streaming service, with subscriptions only costing $9.99 a month with a six-month commitment.

Available 24/7, the WWE Network will be showing more than 1,500 hours of video on demand at launch. It will feature documentaries, live shows, reality TV shows, episode replays after they air on TV. There will be an on-demand library as well that will show classic matches and past WWE, WCW, and ECW pay-per-views. It will also have access to all 12 WWE live pay-per-view events, as well as Wrestlemania - offered as part of the network's subscription packages.

The WWE Network will be accessible through WWE.com on desktops and laptops; and via the WWE app on Android and iOS devices; Amazon Kindle Fire devices; Roku streaming devices; Sony Playstations 3 and 4; and Xbox 360. It will come to more devices - including some Smart TVs and Xbox One - in the summer.

"Today is a historic day for WWE as we transform and reimagine how we deliver our premium live content and 24/7 programming directly to our fans around the world. WWE Network will provide transformative growth for our company and unprecedented value for our fans," said McMahon.

On Twitter, wrestling fans are tweeting about how pumped they are. One said, "Soo yea the #WWENetwork is coming next month for only $10 ...kudos to @VinceMcMahon," while another said, "@WWE just delivered the biggest body slam since Hogan/Andre." Yet another tweeted, "My thoughts on #WWENetwork: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!"

Even wrestling aficionados in the United Kingdom and other countries are already waiting for the WWE Network to be made available on their turf. One tweet said, "The #WWENetwork has won me over instantly and can't wait for it to be available in the UK. It's definitely swatted current competition." WWE aims to launch the WWE Network in Canada, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries by the end of the year.
