An interesting Avengers: Age of Ultron cast rumor has surfaced - Paul Bettany will be playing the Vision. According to The Daily Mail, the British actor will be joining the Marvel team and is already in training.
The Vision is an android created by the villain Ultron who eventually turns against his creator. Bettany as the Vision will be joining Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evan as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
The blonde actor was recently spotted at Shepperton studios outside of London with Renner, meeting with director Joss Whedon. They reportedly did costume tests, and had a session with stuntmen. Production for The Avenger: Age of Ultron will reportedly start next month.
Bettany has actually been a part of the Marvel Universe for quite some time now. He has been the voice of Jarvis, Tony Stark/Iron Man's supercomputer butler for all three Iron Man movies, as well as in the first Avengers movie. There is no word yet as to whether the actor will still be filling that voice role when he becomes the Vision.
Jarvis has actually become very popular on its own. The character even has its own app called Jarvis Iron Man 3. It interacts with users, can act as an alarm clock, and can even check the weather and post to Facebook.
Bettany first gained mainstream attention in the movie, A Knight's Tale, where he played the comedic part of Geoffrey Chaucer and stole a bit of lead star Heath Ledger's spotlight. He gained critical praise for his role in A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe, and is also well-known for his leading man role opposite Kirsten Dunst in Wimbledon. His filmography also includes The Da Vinci Code, The Secret Life of Bees, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. He will next be seen in Transcendence with Johnny Depp.
