Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will be joining 'The Voice' for a few episodes beginning in March. Martin will be a key adviser to all four of the coaches' teams in the second phase of the Battles Round starting March 31. He will also appear on the show again on episodes airing on April 1 and 7.
The Voice revealed footage of Martin via the popular Snapchat app after Tuesday's East Coast broadcast the show ended. Fans were also alerted in advance via announcements on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The current season of The Voice ranks in the top five among young adults and is attracting more viewers than American Idol.
"He's such an authentic voice in the industry. We could not be happier. There's a massive level of respect from the singers and the surprise from them (when they met him) : 'Whoa! Chris Martin. Wow!'" The Voice executive producer Mark Burnett said.
In the first Battles Round, which began this week, each of the four coaches had top artists helping to advise their team of contestants: Adam Levine was paired with singer Aloe Blacc, Blake Shelton and country music stars The Band Perry, Shakira and Miranda Lambert (also Shelton's wife), and Usher and R&B songstress Jill Scott. Martin, according to USA Today, has reportedly already recorded his musical sessions with the singers. The Voice playoffs will be taped rather than broadcast live this year. The finale will take place May 20.
It looks like musical television runs in the family, as Martin's wife Gwenyth Paltrow is returning to 'Glee' to sing Pharrell's hit song "Happy." See her performance below. What do you think?
