Sony Xperia Z2 release date in US has not been formally set, but it is already available with a couple of carriers, according to reports.
With a worldwide debut, the Sony Xperia Z2 release date in US is also near launch in Europe, Canada and India. Sony said that the Xperia Z2 release date will be close to the summer, perhaps bordering near July.
However, consumers who don't have the patience to wait until July can rush to one or two retailers who already have the product. But that will translate to steeper costs, itechpost reports.
Two retailers selling the Sony Xperia Z2 without a formal release date in the U.S. is GSM Nation selling 4G LTE-equipped Sony Xperia Z2 in U.S. for $799. Another retailer is Unwired View which claims the phone is compatible with T-Mobile's and AT&T's networks.
Retailer Negri Electronics is allowing consumers to reserve an Xperia Z2 as well, but for a hefty price of $827.50 while no release date has been announced.
Sony Xperia's Z2 makes its official entry into the U.S. through online sales and the smart phones will not have a sim and will also be unlocked. This implies that the price is at a maximum retail price because there are no middlemen carriers to subsidize the sales.
Japanese electronics giant, Sony unveiled the Xperia Z2, codenamed Sirius at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona. It runs on Android Kit Kat and a 5.2" screen. Sony's flagship Smartphone touts a whopping 20.7 megapixel camera.
An easily notable change from the Sony Z1 is that the battery is a bit bigger to compensate for the bigger display. Other specs include Snapdragon 801 CPU; 5.25-inch 1080p screen; Android 4.4. The Android 4.4 is a coveted OS, making the Z2 seamless and smooth in its operations.
Some analysts are skeptical if the Xperia Z2's "TRILUMINOS Display for mobile with brand new Live Color LED uses red & green phosphor with blue LEDs" actually produces a better display.
The Sony Z2 is also a strong competitor for Apple's iPhone 6 when it is finally unveiled and its release is well timed to take a jab at market share from the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8.
In light of strong competition, media reports quote Yoshiro Kurozumi, Sony Mobile's Creative Director, Director of Product Planning and UX General Manager, as saying that he "has discussed why the Japanese firm needs to upgrade its products after every six months."
Kurozumi told reporters that in order to 'retain the 'flagship' title for a product, one must keep upgrading it, and prove to be a strong rival against other leaders in the market.'
He added that the Z2 was the 'flagship' for the first half of 2014, and signaled that a second flagship would be unveiled with a different design.
Analysts speculate that the new Smartphone will be dubbed 'Z3'.
