Sony Xperia Z2 release date in North America is slated for the summer, according to reports. However, UK retailers will see the Xperia Z2 surface in May.

Christianpost.com reported that the Xperia Z2 will unveil on Verizon in the summer. The confirmation from Verizon came after fans of Sony Xperia saw a leaked photo and assumed that a release was imminent.

"A mockup image was mistakenly posted to the Sony Mobile Google+page. The image has since been removed and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused," wrote the company to Android Authority. "For our U.S. customers eager to find out more information about the availability of Xperia Z2, we are excited to share that the device will be coming to the U.S. unlocked this summer."

Details of the Sony Xperia Z2 was initially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress. Sony says the Xperia Z2 is designed similar to its predecessor and is a 'good buy for the money', fully equipped with great software and hardware.

Similar to the recently released Samsung Galaxy S5, the Xperia Z2 has a wide screen display with a 5.2-inch Full HD Live Color LED Display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB RAM, 4K video capture, Digital noise canceling technology, and a capable 3200 mAh battery. It also has a waterproof and dust-proof body, 4G LTE support and Android 4.4 KitKat integrated with Sony features and makes a forerunner in the rivalry between the best smart-phones released in 2014.

A new feature on the Sony Xperia Z2 is noise cancellations. Sony touts a headset when used in unison with the handset totally blocks out ambient noise. Other new features include camera Timeshift video, Creative effect, Background defocus, AR effect and Vine camera effects.
