"Community" TV series might get a second chance at life after it was ditched by NBC. If all goes well, the cancelled show will head on to streaming service Hulu.

According to Deadline, executives of both Hulu and Sony Pictures TV are in preliminary talks for possible original instalments of "Community" TV series, which was nixed by NBC despite pleas from fans.

However, the website said there's no commitment yet on both sides to continue the "Community" TV series. But Dan Harmon is already considering transferring his creation elsewhere after NBC did not pick up the show, saying that "I'm not going to be the guy that re-cancels cancelled 'Community.'"

Sony TV has a good track record of resuscitating cancelled TV series such as "Drop Dead Diva," which is enjoying its highest ratings in years, as well as "Unforgettable" over at CBS. It also managed to move "Damages" over from FX to DirectTV.

Jamie Erlicht, co-president of Sony TV, said that the studio has the image of fighting for shows it believes in.

"This show had a remarkable history. There are real conversations we need to have with everyone as soon as we get back," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "We've been on the receiving end of some phone calls, but we really need to get together with the 'Community' team and have real conversations and figure out the future."

"If there's any show that should have a future or could have a future, it really feels like 'Community' is the one," he added.

The "Community" TV series cancellation prompted a social media campaign with the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndaMovie" and also for Netflix to pick up a show, to no avail. Fans also created a "Community" dedicated forum on /r/community and urged fans to flood the Netflix with requests, said Variety.

"Giving "Community" fans hope was the fact that Netflix has picked up a cult favorite before," Variety noted, citing the case of "Arrested Development," which was cancelled by Fox but picked up by the streaming service.
