Robinson Cano contributed to the Mariner's two-game sweep in his return to New York earlier this season. It's unclear if he'll be available for his final scheduled visit to the Bronx this season.

The second baseman is dealing with a bone bruise on his left hand, and the Mariners are hoping he can return to help Felix Hernandez win a career high-tying fifth consecutive start in Monday night's makeup game.

Cano drove in a combined three runs in his first series against New York, for which he played nine seasons before joining Seattle in the offseason. The five-time All-Star had one hit in both victories April 29 and May 1, and the middle game of that set was rained out.

The Mariners are hoping to have Cano back after a four-game absence as they play this rescheduled contest. Manager Lloyd McClendon said before Sunday's 4-0 win over Detroit that Cano hasn't taken part in any hitting but has fielded ground balls and worked out.

Cano, who played at least 159 games in his previous seven seasons, hit .409 with 12 RBIs in the 17 contests before the injury.

"The right thing to do is to get it quieted down so you can proceed and get ready to play again so we're almost there. We'll see how he is tomorrow," McClendon told the team's official website.

The Yankees totaled six runs while dropping two of three to Minnesota this weekend. Despite their final 18 batters failing to get on base, they held a one-run lead in the ninth in Sunday's finale before closer David Robertson imploded in a 7-2 defeat.

Robertson was charged with a career high-tying five runs in his second blown save in 14 chances for New York, loser of nine of 13 at home.
