New York Mets meet the Chicago Cubs WATCH FREE: Major League Baseball Live Streaming Online from Wrigley Field at 8:05 PM ET
Owners of the worst record in the majors and coming off another blowout loss, the Cubs are starting to show their frustration.
Things likely won't get any easier Tuesday night when they welcome the surging Mets to Wrigley Field.
Chicago (20-34) concluded a 4-6 trip by recording three hits during a 9-0 defeat to Milwaukee on Sunday. It was the third time in five games the Cubs were shut out and fifth of the trip they lost by at least four runs.
First baseman Anthony Rizzo was ejected Sunday for arguing a called third strike, a sign that the potential for another dismal season is already wearing on the Cubs.
"I was very frustrated," said Rizzo, who was 6 for 16 with two homers and five RBIs in the four games before he was 0 for 1 and was hit by a pitch Sunday.
New York took four of five in Philadelphia with Monday's 11-2 victory, its third win in a row and sixth in seven games. Shortstop Wilmer Flories hit a grand slam and drove in six runs.
"I just want to prove to them that I can do the job," said Flores, who was batting .222 with no extra-base hits in his first 14 games of the season prior to Monday. "I know I'm good and I can do this."
New York's Zack Wheeler (2-5, 4.31) allowed a home run and three other hits in 6 1/3 innings of a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday for his first win in eight starts since beating Arizona on April 14. He's allowed three earned runs in 13 innings of his last two starts after giving up 10 over 10 1/3 innings of the previous two.
"You're going to see nights like that out of him," manager Terry Collins told the Mets' official website. "He certainly has that ability, as we've seen in the past."
The right-hander is making his first appearance against the Cubs.
