"House of Cards" season 3 cast Kevin Spacey earned the effusive praises of Twitter users after calling out an audience member whose phone won't stop ringing in the middle of his monologue.

The incident occurred while Kevin Spacey was in character for his new one-man show "Clarence Darrow" of The Old Vic theatre in London, MailOnline reported.

While he was delivering his monologue as the feisty 19th century lawyer pleading his innocence, a cellular phone suddenly rang. The audience member tried to play it cool as everybody was looking in the direction of the ringing.

Still in character, "House of Cards" season 3 cast Kevin Spacey then blurted out: "If you don't answer that, I will." The admonition earned a round of applause.

Later, audience members tweeted the whole incident with Nick Bailey saying: "Kevin Spacey, in character, to ringing phone in audience: "if you don't answer that I will". Legend. #clarencedarrow."

Another Twitter user @jmbriscoe, per MailOnline, added: 'Good to know if you're an idiot & let your phone ring during a show, the magnificent Kevin Spacey will call you out on it.'

According to BBC, Kevin Spacey is going to be replaced at the Old Vic by Matthew Warchus, who helmed "Matilda." Although he played Clarence Darrow several times, this is the first time as a one-man show.

"House of Cards" season 3 cast Kevin Spacey's performance as Clarence Darrow received rave reviews from critics, with The Telegraph likening it to a "battered old prize fighter, constantly on the move ... and radiates a charisma and dramatic attack that is often spellbinding."

Meanwhile, The Guardian recognized Kevin Spacey's "big, barnstorming performance as the famed American lawyer."

The Mail's Quentin Letts regretted that Kevin Spacey has to leave. "The London stage has been fortunate to have him and this cracking performance, despite a so-so play, sees him at the top of his art. Exit Kevin the king."
