Comedian Tracy Morgan was in critical condition after his limousine was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer, police said Saturday.

The "30 Rock" actor and Jeffrey Millea were both airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The car accident occurred at around 1a.m. on Saturday morning near Cranberry Township.

"Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital," stated the comedian's spokesman Lewis Kay, in a statement.

Kay added, "He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today, but will provide a further update once more information becomes available."

The car accident involved five separate vehicles, Trooper Greg Williams, a spokeman for the New Jersey State Police told the publication.

The driver of the tractor-trailer reportedly "failed to observe" slow moving traffic as it was coming up behind the limousine Tracy Morgan was in.

The trailer struck the limousine from behind, causing it to spin out of control and flip over. The "eight passenger Mercedes" then crashed with a Buick Enclave and a second tractor-trailer.

63-year-old James McNair was identified as the man who was killed in the car accident, according to the Chicago Tribune. The other passenger who was identified was Jeffrey Millea, whose condition is unknown.

There were reportedly seven people in the Mercedes in all; four were hospitalized while three, including Morgan, were in critical condition.

Judah Friedlander tweeted that comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton were also involved in the car accident. New Jersey state police couldn't confirm that Fuqua and Stanton were involved.

"Come on @RealTracyMurray @ARDIEFUQUA @harrisstanton you can survive this! Sending prayers," tweeted Morgan's former "30 Rock" co-star Friedlander.
