Is Queen Elizabeth a big fan of "Game of Thrones?" It might seem so as the itinerary for her Northern Ireland trip next week includes a visit to the set of the HBO hit series, to sit on the Iron Throne perhaps?
Although there's no public announcement from the Palace for her reasons to drop by on the set of Titanic Studios, actions speak louder than words. According to E! News, her husband, Prince Phillip, will also accompany Queen Elizabeth for "Game of Thrones" visit.
"As of now, there are no plans for her to take over as the new ruler of Westeros in Game of Thrones' fifth season," Leanne Aguilera wrote for E! "However, if we don't get a picture of Britain's regal royal sitting on the Iron Throne, we're going to be seriously disappointed."
According to the New York Daily News, production for "Game of Thrones" is done in three continents but most of the filming can be found in Titanic Studios in Belfast. This is where the Iron Throne is found.
Queen Elizabeth can teach "Game of Thrones" monarchs a thing or two about staying in power for long, according to the publication, as she has been on the throne for 52 years.
Kings and Queens are routinely killed on the HBO hit series, which is based on George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Fire and Ice" novels.
"Though the hit HBO fantasy series, which finished its fourth season Sunday night, hasn't traditionally been kind to monarchs, the visit of the real-life queen is another jewel in the crown for one of the biggest productions in television history," the NY Daily News added.
In a report by The Telegraph, the "Game of Thrones" contributed $140 million into the economy of Northern Ireland and also boosted interest in tourism.
