R Kelly's transgender daughter is still waiting for the "Ignition" singer's acceptance after he came out earlier this month as Jay, a TMZ report said. The rapper is reportedly still referring to Jaya as his daughter according to his ex-wife Andrea Kelly.

"That's like calling him [R. Kelly] a background singer, not the king of R&B," Andrea Kelly said.

In a recent interview of Chicago's WGCI with rapper R. Kelly, the singer was reportedly "in denial" on his transgender daughter Jay.

When asked by host Nina Chantele on the coming out of his daughter, R Kelly said, "You don't wanna really open it up with saying my daughter's becoming my son."

He said that one always has to believe what you see with your own eyes because "that's the best way to go about this business."

"No matter what they are or who they are, they're still your kids, you love them, you know? You've got to support them. At the end of the day it's not about me no more. It's about three lovely, lovely kids that I am in love with and that's in love with me," the "Ignition" rapper added.

But the Frock magazine editor Katie Glover told Independent UK that the rapper's response about the R Kelly transgender daughter issue is "unfair."

She said, "It sounds like R. Kelly is in denial and that's so unfair on Jay. It took a lot of guts to come out publicly like that."

She added that "Jaya is going to be Jay forever" so it is better for the "Ignition" singer to get used to it as he also needs to understand that being a transgender is "not like having a cold."

R Kelly's transgender daughter Jay, had recently came out in his Ask.fm page and said that his mom Andrea Kelly still loves him so much whatever his preference is, according to Huffington Post.

"She was very proud of me. I was like, 'Thank you, Mum, for accepting the fact that I'm a transgender," the 14-year-old R Kelly's transgender daughter Jay said.

Jay, whose real name is Jaya, said the same goes with his sister who was very proud of him and even called him now as "her little brother."
