Which smartphone is the ideal purchase for consumers? We pit the Sony Xperia Z2 against the Blackberry Z3 to see which is better choice.
In terms of design and display, the Sony Xperia Z2 has a 5.2 inches full HD TRILUMINOS display which can render a resolution of 1080x1920pixels and 424ppi. It has a X-Reality for mobile picture engine as users can can “adapt” to the lighting conditions and offers vivid colors. Its dimensions are 146.8×73.3×8.2 mm and weighs 163 grams. In the addition the Sony smartphone is resistant to water and dust. It also incorporates noise cancelling feature which offers a quality sound while listening to music on your headphones.
Meanwhile, the Blackberry Z3 has only a 5 inches QHD display which can render a resolution of 540x960pixels and 220ppi. It measures 140×72.8×9.3 mm, and 1 gram heavier than its competitor. Its design is smooth, having a back panel with a perforated pattern.
For hardware and OS, the Sony Xperia Z2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core 2.3GHz CPU and has 3GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on the Android 4.4 and it comes with preinstalled apps such as Timeshift video and background defocus.
The Blackberry Z3 is equipped with a 1.2GHz Dual-Core CPU and 1.5GB of RAM. It runs on the BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS and has the same active noise cancellation feature plus other basic features, and BlackBerry maps and a music player.
For battery usage and camera specs, the Sony Xperia Z2 has a 20.7 MP rear camera which captures 4K videos. It has a Live Color LED display which offers a crisp and clear images, and watching a video gives users a cinematic experience. The battery is of 3200mAh, but it’s non-removable.
The Blackberry Z3 however has a 5MP rear camera (LED flash and autofocus) which users can record 1080p videos. Plus, the video playback is decent. It also has non-removable, but it has a lower capacity of 2500mAh.
The Sony Xperia Z2 cost $618 in amazon.com, while the Blackberry Z3 is around $300 from welectronics.com.
