Conan O'Brien will make his film debut in "Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda," a sequel to the 2010 "Sharktopus," the host made the announcement on his late night show. The comedian also lobbied to be included in the Oscars, BAFTA and the Emmy awards.
While interviewing Andy Richter on his show, the funny host squeezed in to mention his desire to be in a film since he already mastered hosting a TV talk show.
"Clearly if you watch the show regularly, I've mastered the form, you know? I attained a level of perfection that cannot be equaled in the talk show world," the 51-year old said humorously.
"So, I thought it was to begin a new chapter in my career as a dramatic film actor. . . I don't have a lot of time, so I chose the only film role offered to me. I'm talking about the powerful and hyper-realistic drama Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda," he added.
Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda is an original, low-budget film TV film , which according to Huffington Post, is "the age-old story of a part-shark, part-octopus battling to the death with a part-pterodactyl, part-barracuda."
Conan O'Brien's film debut in "Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda" announcement didn't really state his role, but he said that he's "very proud of my work in this film, and I want everyone to know about it."
Because of this, and to create more hype for his participation in the movie, the late night host unveiled a billboard seeking award-giving bodies' consideration for his upcoming acting gig in Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda.
Conan O'Brien made fun of where the billboard was erected, but delivered it in a very serious tone where he emphasized that he got a discount for the billboard placement since there is a "partially obstructive view" and "has views in some of the cities' natural beauty" (which clearly is a dirty creek) with immense "foot traffic" where it was placed.
"This is happening! This is big! I'm gonna be a movie star!", O'Brien said excitedly.
Conan O' Brien's film debut "Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda" is produced by Roger Corman and will be shown on August 2, 9 p.m. on Syfy.
