Facebook announced the "Save" button, an added feature on users' newsfeed that will enable them to save the chosen posts, "items like links, places, movies, TV and music" for a later viewing, the social media giant announced on its Facebook Newsroom.

"Every day, people find all sorts of interesting items on Facebook that they don't have time to explore right away. Now you can save items that you find on Facebook to check out later when you have more time. You can save items like links, places, movies, TV and music. Only you can see the items you save unless you choose to share them with friends," said by Daniel Giambalvo, a software engineer at Facebook.

Users can find the Facebook "Save" button by pressing on the drop-down arrow on the upper right side of a post while one can view saved posts by going to "Saved" on the left side menu panel (when opening your Facebook profile on desktop) or by going to the profile panel (when opening through mobile).

Aside from the Facebook "Save" button, the social media company is also trying out a "Buy" button that will allow social media users to directly buy a merchant's product from the platform.

According to Financial Express, Facebook is already making baby steps towards incorporating a "Buy" button in sponsored posts while a third-party company (credit card or payment company) will process the orders.

Facebook declared earlier that it is on its testing phase of its "Buy" button as it pushes e-commerce on its platform. Through Facebook's "Buy" button, users can directly purchase a product from the platform, and must agree to encode credit card information to Facebook's systems so the purchase can be finalized. Credit card details will not be stored, though, and will be transferred to the seller to process the sale.

Facebook is in head-to-head competition with Twitter in offering in-app purchases to their respective users, and, while both are on its testing phase, mock-up images of the possible appearance of the "Buy" or "Buy Now" posts on one's Facebook timeline and Twitter feed are already circulating.

Facebook attempted to integrate e-commerce in its system even prior to the "Buy" button. Mashable reported that Facebook previously offered Facebook Credits and Facebook Gifts only to discontinue the offer in 2012.

Facebook's "Buy" button option will be available for specific products on Facebook's site and mobile app starting Thursday, The Wire reported. The Facebook "Save" button, meanwhile, have rolled out in the past few days for Android, iOS and web users.
