Quake Live to be Brought to Steam This Summer with Major Updates

Quake Live is basically a competitive and undoubtedly one of the popular first-person shooter games created by id software that has been going on for many years. It proves that even old school experiences can keep up even if the creator doesn't have that much time to further improve gameplay experience.

More recently, however, Bethesda and id revealed at the QuakeCon 2014 that they're planning to bring Quake Live onto the Steam platform any time during the summer and that a major update will be released at the same time that's designed to make sweeping changes to the experience.

Apparently, id wants new players to have a smoother entry into the first-person shooter. However, it's not yet prepared to share actual details on the new gameplay.

"Today we are thrilled to announce that we are bringing Quake Live to Steam. Upon release, players will have the option of porting their Quake Live account to their Steam account, allowing you to play and update the game entirely through the Steam interface. We will also be supporting subscriptions through Steam, in 2 and 12 month increments, which can be paid with any payment method currently supported through Steam," the studio said on its forums.

There are no further info on when a solid release is going to come out on Steam platform. But then again, we can expect to get more updates any time soon.

You can, of course, play Quake Live right now. At the same time, it's seemingly always struggled to secure a bigger audience. Steam could potentially help with that. Over 4 million people are logged into the client, and that's at the low-point of its daily cycle. Although putting the game on Steam no longer guarantees much of a success for id and Bethesda, Quake Live remains free-to-play and it’s obviously one of a kind.
