Which LG smartphone is ideal choice for consumers? We pit the Optimus G against the Nexus 4 to see which is worth the purchase.

For the design and display, the Nexus 4 is equipped with a True HD IPS Plus display that measures 4.7 inches and renders a screen resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels. It weighs 139 grams and comes with these dimensions: 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1 mm.

The Optimus G is equipped with a True HD IPS+ LCD display that also measures 4.7 inches and that can render the same resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels. The smartphone is thinner (dimensions: 131.9 x 68.9 x 8.5 mm) but heavier (weight: 145 g) than the Nexus 4.

For the hardware and OS, the Nexus 4 is powered by a Krait processor: quad core working at 1.5 GHz that is paired up with a Snapdragon APQ8064 chipset from Qualcomm. The smartphone supports 2GB of RAM and it can be purchased with two options of internal storage capacity: 8GB and 16GB (there is no microSD card slot, meaning that you cannot expand this memory). It runs on is Android Jelly Bean.

The Optimus G is powered by a quad core processor (Krait) working at 1.5 GHz. For chipset, it has two options: either the Qualcomm MDM9615 or the Qualcomm APQ8064 and it supports 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (the memory is not expandable via microSD card). It runs on Android Jelly Bean.

For battery usage and camera specs, both LG smartphones have the same type of battery: Li-Po 2100 mAh battery unit. While on the Nexus 4's battery can last up to 15 hours of talking time (3G), the Optimus G draws more energy, seeing how this one can only last 13 hours of talking time (3G).

Regarding the rear-facing camera, the Nexus 4 comes with an 8MP camera (autofocus + LED flash), while the Optimus G can be found with either an 8MP camera or a 13MP one. For the front-facing camera, both devices come with a 1.3MP camera.

LG Nexus 4 (16GB) cost around $274.99, while the LG Optimus G is around $277.88.
