"Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian's app has taken over the Environmental Protection Agency's Twitter account on Monday evening, July 21.
The agency's Office of Water tweeted, "I'm now a C-list celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Come join me and become famous too by playing on iPhone!"
EPA's Twitter account usually shares information and tweets about the government's latest bid to protected the country's clean water systems. The account also regularly shares stories on pollution and the like, according to US Weekly.
As such, the surprising tweet caught followers of EPA off guard and led them to speculate whether or not the account was hacked.
The controversial tweet has so far received at least 3,000 retweets and replies from critics and followers. Various media entities have also contacted the Office but they failed to comment regarding the incident.
One person tweeted, "@EPAWater I really hope no one gets fired for this because it is beautiful and made me laugh for hours."
Another Twitter user wrote, "Congrats @EPAWater on your Kardashian game success. If you can solve Kim K's complex problems, you can do great things with our environment."
One Twitter user added, "@EPAWater @KimKardashian can't wait for you guys to go head to head on this one." Another person quipped, "@EPAWater whoever sent out that tweet is hilarious. I bet no one is going to say who it is though or was that just a hoax?"
Of course, EPA was referring to Kim Kardashian's newest app on iTunes and Android that was introduced just a couple of weeks ago. However, as of late, the reality TV star has not yet commented regarding the incident and has not confirmed whether or not she has anything to do with it.
As of late, the controversial tweet has already been deleted from EPAWater's Twitter account.
