"Fifty Shades of Grey" trailer release teased fans of what's to come, both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson described their sex scenes as awkward.

The "Today" show on NBC first premiered the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trailer release on Thursday, giving fans a first-look of the highly anticipated film based on E.L. James' erotic novel, E! News reported.

Interviewed by the host, Dakota Johnson confessed that she was quite nervous about taking on the role.

The show's co-host Savannah Guthrie meanwhile joked that Jamie Dornan should be interviewed without a shirt on per the demand of the fans, to which the 32-year-old actor replied: "I could have done that if you'd ask me. I would have thought about it. I would've considered it."

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" trailer release shows the first meeting between Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) as well as the famous Red Room of Pain. While it may appear erotic, both actors revealed that their sex scenes were anything but. The preview also featured a sexier and "exclusive version" by Beyonce of her hit single "Crazy in Love."

"It's not, like, a romantic situation. It's more, like, technical and choreographed and less ... it's more of a task," Dakota Johnson said on the "Today" show.

However, Jaime Dornan said that they made the sex scenes work because they trust each other.

"That's a big part of it ... having trust," he explained, according to MailOnline. "Because, you know, we got ourselves into situations that don't feel that sort of natural and they're not that easy and you need to have the trust there."

They also explained that the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trailer release shown on "Today" was heavily edited to make sure that it's "appropriate for breakfast TV," the tabloid added.
