Which Samsung Tablet is the ideal choice for consumers? We pit the Galaxy Tab 2 against the Galaxy Tab 3 to see which tablet device is better.
For design and diplay, both Galaxy Tabs have the same screen size of 7 inches, which supports the same resolution of 600×1024pixels. The difference of these two is that the Galaxy Tb 3 has a TFT screen that replaces the IPS LCD screen on its predecessor. The Galaxy Tab 2 is a little bit bigger than other, measuring 193.7×122.4×10.5 mm and it felts heavy and weighs 345 grams. However, the Galaxy Tab 3 is almost 40 grams lighter and slightly slimmer measuring 188×111.1×9.9 mm.
For hardware and OS, the Galaxy Tab 2 is equipped with a dual core processor (clocked at 1GHz) which teams up with the TI OMAP 4430 chipset and it’s available in three variants of internal memories – 8 and 16GB expandable up to 32GB, plus a 32GB variant. As for the Galaxy Tab 3, it also has a dual core processor, but it’s clocked at 1.2GHz and has two variants of internal storage: 8 and 16GB, but they can be expanded up to 64GB.
Both of the Samsung tablets come with 1GB of RAM and run on the Android platform, but on different versions: the Galaxy Tab 2 runs on the Ice Cream Sandwich version (which can be upgraded to the Jelly Bean version), while the Galaxy Tab 3 runs on the Jelly Bean version.
In terms of battery usage and camera specs, both tablets have non-removable Li-Ion batteries with the capacity of 4000 mAh. They also share the same 3.15MP primary camera (autofocus) and the secondary cameras are VGA on the Galaxy Tab 2, and 1.3Mp on the Galaxy Tab 3.
