The new Disney channel show "Star Wars Rebels" has finally landed a definite release date as revealed at the San Diego Comic Con 2014.

"Star Wars Rebels" will be aired on October 2014. Although Lucasfilm and Disney have yet to decide on a more definite "Star Wars Rebels" release date, fans are already talking about the new "Star Wars" project.

Here's the official description of the new show as published on slashfilm.com:

"The Jedi have been wiped out and the Empire spreads tyranny through the galaxy. Hope runs thin. But on the small planet of Lothal a big change is looming. A group of rebels meet a 14-year-old con artist named Ezra and soon it's clear their destinies are linked. Aboard their ship, the Ghost, Ezra and the rebels embark on an adventure to ignite a rebellion and strike back against the Empire."

At the San Diego Comic Con 2014, audiences were given an exclusive preview of the one-hour premiere episode they will be airing on October. And while that video can't be released online just yet, fans would just have to settle with the other "Star Wars Rebels" exclusive videos shown at the event.

Here are a few:

During the San Diego Comic Con, producer Simon Kinberg dished out on a few details about the new Disney Channel show.

"We had to decide what time it would take place. So we decided it would be pre- A New Hope and really be the origin story of the Rebels. It gave us the opportunity to do some really new things that the movies haven't done before."

He also shared that the show will have hints of comedy to it, something that the fans are looking forward to.

"Comedy was a big part of the original films, and it came from character," Kinberg said.

"For us, the comedy in this comes from those character dynamics as well. We started this show and we thought of this crew as a family. Family is such a big part of the original as well, and there's a lot of comedy that just comes from being familiar in a space - whether it's a house or a spaceship. We wanted it to come from the character, not to just have comedy for the sake of it."

"Star Wars Rebels" will be shown on the Disney Channel, and will eventually have a regular spot on Disney XD.
