Which smartphone is the better choice for consumers? We pit the Nokia Lumia 625 against the Samsung Galaxy Grand S Duo 2 to see which device is worth the purchase.

For the design and dispaly, the Samsung Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 has almost the same dimensions as its predecessor, being 0. 1mm thicker, measuring 121.5×63.1×10.6 mm and weighing 118 grams. It has a 4 inches TFT display with a resolution of 480x800pixels and 233ppi. The Samsung smartphone is available in black and white shades.

The Nokia Lumia 625 has 4.7 inches IPS LCD screen and also render a resolution of 480x800pixels, but its pixel density is at 199ppi. It weighs 41 grams more than the Samsung unit and it measures 133.3×72.3×9.2 mm, plus, it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and comes in five variants of shades: white, black, yellow, bright green and orange.

In terms of hardware and OS, the Sony Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, having a BCM 28145/28155 chipset and using a Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU. Its internal memory is at 4GB and with a microSD card users can get up to 64GB.

The Nokia Lumia 625 has 8GB of built in storage, also expandable up to 64GB, but it’s powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Krait CPU, which teams up with a Qualcomm MSM8930 Snapdragon chipset and has an Adreno 305 GPU.

The Samsung unit runs on the Android platform v4.2 (Jelly Bean) with 768MB of RAM,while the Nokia smartphone has only 512MB of RAM and runs on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS, which is upgradeable to the 8.1 version.

For the battery and camera specs, the Samsung Galaxy Grand S Duos 2’s battery is removable and it’s a Li-Ion with the capacity of 1500mAh, which allows up to 8 hours of talk time on 3G.

The Nokia Lumia 625 on the other hand, has a non-removable Li-Ion battery with a higher capacity of 2000mAh (BP-4GWA), which allows users to talk over 15 hours on 3G.

Both smartphones have rear cameras of 5MP which have many features in common: 2592х1944pixels, autofocus, geo tagging and LED flash. The difference is that the Nokia smartphone has an additional touch focus and the video recording capability is at 1080p@30fps, while the Samsung smartphone records at 720p@30fps. Also, both smartphones have VGA cameras.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 cost $142 on amazon.com, while the Nokia Lumia 625 is around $220.
