Leaning on the success of the first, Marriage at First Sight Season 2 is underway. What many thought as a joke now proves to be real.
The social experiment docuseries got everyone totally insane. It made people ask this question: Who will think about marrying someone at the moment they meet in the altar? But people got hooked anyway and it was a hit. Marriage at First Sight Season 1 got total views of 661,000 in its fifth episode. This is an increase of 145% in viewership, as compared to its premiere episode.
The finale of the first season will happen on September 9 but at this early FYI, the network producer, has announced its plans for Married at First Sight Season 2.
FYI president Jana Bennett believed greatly in the docu-reality series that she made a straight-to-series order when pitched by Kinetic Content. It was a right move. "Married at First Sight has truly captured viewers' attention and garnered awareness for FYI following our successful rebrand. The series reflects the authentic, relatable and universal journey - our search for true love. The quest will continue anew next year," she said in a press release.
The reality series second season will follow the structure of the first: Six new individuals will make a courageous move of marrying a total stranger to find a lifelong partner. They will wed the one they meet for the first time right down the aisle. They will be chosen again by a panel of experts (sexologist, spiritualist, psychologist, and sociologist) who believe they will become perfect couples, basing on scientific matchmaking.
Married at First Sight Season 2 will have 11 episodes that will be aired in 2015. It will feature the journey of the couples - from the wedding, to honeymoon and to moving in together. Viewers will witness their everyday struggles because of unconventional marriage. At the end, they will decide whether to stay together or to file a divorce.
