Facebook App rumor has been all over Reddit about FB spying on other apps!
Motoring Crunch reported that users have noticed Facebook Messenger seemingly capturing apps installed on a device.
They noticed within a few hours of connecting Facebook Messenger on their device something odd has been taking place. The users' app, Wish, installed on their phone noticeably appeared first thing in the news feed. The users notice the adverts showing up as ways to make money from the latter's apps.
Another user contested this, saying there wasn't enough proof this was happening. It was also argued this incident is not atypical in Facebook. Facebook app generally allows device and app records access.
Facebook App rumor proves to be useless if users use xprivacy. Xprivacy allows users to see which apps want to ask access permissions. Then, it gives you the option whether or not to grant these apps access to your FB app.
Some of the users may be left wondering if the FB app will access your phone's microphone to record them.
Facebook app does not need your permission to access the microphone and camera on your phone. However, an FB rep said you'll need your microphone while using FB to send voice messages and videos complete with sounds.
FB app needs to access your camera if you wish to send pictures from it.
Take Facebook App rumor cautiously, but don't be paranoid. The rumor may have just been blown out of proportion without you realizing it.
