"The Walking Dead" viewers know exactly the sentiments of Norman Reedus' fans when his character in the TV series died, saying "If Daryl dies, we riot." But how about if Daryl Dixon turns out to be gay, what will his fans say?
Just recently, the speculations start to spread (once again) that the character Daryl Dixon portrayed by Norman Reedus is gay. This time, Robert Kirkman clears the rumor once and for all when a reader named Nick Muller asked the writer about the sexuality of Daryl. Here's how he asked as published on MTV News:
"Absolutely nothing has given any indication that Daryl is straight and the relationship between him and Carol makes it seem even more likely that he is not only gay but that Carol is probably the only person he has confided in so far, and I feel like little hints have been dropped about it as well along the way but maybe not. I thought of this a long time ago but now I am pretty certain of it after the most bad ass character in the comic book turned out to be gay. I feel like if you had your way bad ass character in the comic book turned out to be gay. I feel like if you had your way that Daryl would turn out to be gay since it's true to the comic book and makes total sense for his character. So the real question is, would AMC let that fly?"
Muller based his question on the apparently newer character in the "The Walking Dead" comic series, wherein a long-haired badass named Jesus happens to be gay. Perhaps, he thinks that the only badass character in the TV series is Daryl; thus, he thinks that Jesus is the counterpart of Daryl in the TWD comics.
Kirkman then said, "All I can say is that it's been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl's sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there's ever a quiet period in the show where he's not constantly distracted by cross bowing ... we'll tackle it in the show.
Speaking of badass, last July, Norman Reedus promised TWD fans that the Season 5 will be the "badass one". So, we will see how badass it is when the season premieres on October 12.
