Windows 8.1 August Update 2 Re-Release: Patch KB 2975719 Fix For Bungled 8.2 Recall Requires OS Uninstall, Manual Update Disappoints Users, Analysts, 'Could Never Happen At Apple'

Windows 8.1 August Update Re-Release. According to published reports, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is planning to re-release the bungled update 2 to Windows 8. That's the same recalled update that was causing problems with the 'blue screen of death,' that spells a vital error that might damage user software and hardware.

Microsoft's instructions do not specify the exact details of retrieving the old update, but once the KB 2975719 update goes through, your PC will be running on MSFT's best OS, the Windows 8, update 2. This is designed to hold over customers until Windows 9 releases next year.

"By transforming their existing infrastructure and investments, connecting and streamlining operations across many city functions, and engaging citizens and businesses in solving their toughest challenges, Microsoft City Next is accelerating innovation and opportunities for cities globally," Investorplace.com explained.

"Customers who have already installed the original update that was released on August 12, 2014, and who may have experienced an issue, can read this KB article that details instructions on how to resolve the issue before the new updates will install automatically.," said a statement on MSFT blog.

This call for a new manual update from the Redmond, Seattle-Washington firm, has its loyal MSFT watchers puzzled. Analysts say that this kind of disregard for clients could never happen at Apple or Google. One reason many customers have not complained about the process is because the new update must be painfully slow.

Shares of MSFT on the NASDAQ were inching up amid a host of news including the purchase of Minecraft maker Umang. However, there was some bad news for MSFT when Getty Images filed a lawsuit against Redmond for releasing its 'Bing Image Widget', described as a 'massive infringement on copyright' reported Reuters.
