Bungie has decided to restrict the voice chat options in Destiny games to fire teams, as reported in Kotaku. In this new feature, voice chatting for Destiny games will only be available to fire teams, composing of segregated groups of three guardians and players.
Grouping into a Destiny fire team is implemented through invitations or matchmaking, in instance-angled strikes, as further reported by Kotaku.
Engaging into mission, patrol or bounty plays is available only if you keep your Destiny Fireteam updated all by yourself. Inviting other players to your fire team will let you engage in a voice chat with them once they accept your invitation.
The objective of the Destiny's fire team restriction of voice chat is to minimize the exchange of foul language between players during the game. This new restriction does bring out a clean and positive image for the game. However, this will also hinder players to get the feel of what Destiny games are all about.
Players recently have filed complaints to get rid of the voice chat restrictions. They argued that limited voice chat options leave them lonely and isolated while playing the game.
