Which phablet is the ideal purchase for consumers? We pit the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 against the LG G3 Cat. 6 to see which device is better.
In terms of design and display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a 5.7inches Super AMOLED display with 1440x2560pixels and 515ppi. The LG G3 cat. 6 has the same resolution on its True HD-IPS + LCD display sized at 5.5 inches, but the pixel density is higher at 534ppi. Both phablets come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of their screens for protection against scratches, and speaking about protection, we would have wanted the Note 4 to be water resistant, but Samsung couldn't comply with this demand because they had to add the S Pen stylus and couldn't cover the holder. Plus, there’s a fingerprint sensor which is very useful for those who are making payments. The Note 4 measures 153.5×78.6×8.5 mm and weighs 176 grams, while the G3 cat. 6 is 22 grams lighter and it measures 146.3×74.6×9.1 mm.
For hardware and OS, the LG G3 cat. 6 and one of the two variants of Note 4 are both powered by a quad core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC) and they’re both using an Adreno 420 GPU. As for the other variant of Note 4, it comes with an Exynos 5433 chipset and a combination of 1.3GHz Cortex A53 + 1.9GHz Cortex-A57 processors with four cores each, and the GPU is Mali-T760. Both phablets have 3GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB, which supports expansion up to 128GB, using a microSD card. Though, the Note 4 takes one step ahead of its rival, coming loaded with Android 4.4.4 (KitKat), while the G3 cat.6 operates on an older version, 4.4.2 (KitKat).
For battery and camera specs, the LG phablet has a 3000mAh battery and the Samsung device comes with a 3,220mAh battery. The Samsung device has a 16MP back camera which has features that include LED flash, optical image stabilization, autofocus, HDR, Dual Shot, face and smile detection, panorama, touch focus, geo tagging, simultaneous HD video and image recording etc. This phone is able to record at 2160p@30fps and 1080p@60fps with optical stabilization, while the G3 cat. 6 records Full HD at 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps, with optical stabilization. The LG device has a 2.1MP camera on the back, while the Note 4 has a 3.7MP front shooter.
