Cameron Diaz is dating Benji Madden but will there be a future for the two who have very different views about kids? Good Charlotte member wants kids but the "Other Woman" actress doesn't.
In an interview with with Details magazine, the 35-year-old rocker said that he wanted a life just like his brother Joel, who has two children with Nicole Richie.
He said that having kids is "what every man wants, whether they admit it or not."
The rocker also weighed in on the whole Cameron Diaz dating Benji Madden reports, particularly on rumors that they are already looking to get married, hinting that he's in no rush to do anything.
"I did relationship damage to myself in my twenties. That's what your twenties are for. You learn, and then you apply it in your thirties," he said.
The Good Charlotte guitarist also appears frustrated when tabloids are more intersted in the Cameron Diaz dating Benji Madden headlines rather than what they are working on professionally.
"It's frustrating when people want to talk about stuff other than the music. That makes me defensive. It's nuts that the world can keep track of who I'm dating. Should I not date people you've heard of? That's who I meet!" he added.
Cameron Diaz in an interview with Esquire back in August last year said that having children means "so much more work."
"To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for - I didn't take that on. ... A baby - that's all day, every day for 18 years. Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn't make it an easy decision. I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother," she said.
In Redbook, as shared by People magazine, Cameron Diaz said: "I thought I was going to be married and have two children by the time I was 21. I think I felt I had to model my life after my mother's. But then my career was starting to take off and there were still so many things I wanted to do. So that dream for me was shattered early on. After that I never put another time line on anything in my life."
