"Reign" season 2 on CW opens and fans can keep their eyes glued to the TV screen by the striking image of the young, fearless and oh-so-beautiful Queen Mary in her latest frocks.
E! Online got first dibs of the casts' latest looks and shared it with netizens, starting with Adelaide Kane's character Queen Mary. For "Reign" season 2 on CW, topnotch costume designer Meredith Markworth-Pollack took to the task of designing the exquisite attires of the four main characters. The process required her to design gorgeous attires that would go with her new image, as she takes on burning national issues coupled with steamier and more complex personal affairs, reported KSite TV.
All eyes are on Adelaide Kane's character Mary Queen of Scotts among the four characters in "Reign" season 2 on CW. For the newly crowned queen of France, Markworth-Pollack beefed up the impression of her costume. As E! Online shared, she had to project the image courage and maturity.
The designer took into account the queen's need to don a more serious image for this season while maintaining her sexy, feminine appeal. So what she did was create a kind of armor for her costume using beaded cloths.
Markworth-Pollack stressed out that she had to incorporate details that would speak of Mary's new status. This idea combined with the need to show her darker, more mature side prompted the designer to use more black and gold fabrics like laces and brocades. She layered them skillfully and adorned them with stunning jewels to complete the new queen's stronger image.
Just take a good look at Mary's solo portrait above. Does she not look striking in her off-shoulder gown and corset that highlights her small waist?
Her entire costume and look successfully melds all the character traits the designer has taken into consideration. However, instead of downplaying her innate sexiness and allure they flaunted them even more. But the glorious fashion styles fit for royalty does not stop there. Markworth-Pollack promised that she has also readied gorgeous crown designs to top off the young queen's splendid appearance.
