World of Warcraft movie for 2016 is set for release!

WOW fans have been waiting for the World of Warcraft movie for 2016 since the game's film adaptation release was announced at the Blizzon 2006.

Blizzard, WOW's developer, has divulged little details about the World of Warcraft movie for 2016. The movie will be a project produced through the collaborative efforts of Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures. The game's film adaptation will hit theaters courtesy of Universal Pictures, as reported in The Franchise Herald.

Blizzard staff hinted the theme of the movie's story at a Blizzcon event in 2013, according to The Franchise Herald. The main setting of the movie will be in Azeroth. Here, Humans and Orcs will be engaged in a battle together. Anduin Lothar and Durotan will be the leading characters that will highlight the film's story theme.

The WOW movie was initially assigned for the direction of Sam Raimi. However, it was later announced that Duncan Jones will be directing the game's adaptation of the movie, instead. Raimi claimed he backed out of the project because Blizzard refused to take on his pre-production and script outputs, as reported in The Franchise Herald, too.

Ben Foster is on board to star as Medivh. Travis Fimmel is going to play a lead role in the film. The other cast members are going to include Paula Patton, Dominic Copper, Rob Kazinsky, Toby Kebbel, Daniel Wu, Clancy Brown and Burke Duffield.

Fans should expect to see a non-traditional live action packed film version of the game. Production for the WOW film ran within January to May 2014. Universal Pictures is scheduled to release the film on March 11, 2016.
